The Birmingham Children's Crusade of 1963.
“We were told in some of the mass meetings that the day would come when we could really do something about all of these inequities that we were experiencing. And we were calling it D-Day. That was May 2, 1963,” remembers Janice Kelsey. Kelsey was one of thousands of young people who participated in a series of non-violent demonstrations known as the Children’s Crusade in Birmingham, Alabama, during the first week of May 1963.

.... Later that year, in September 1963, four little girls were killed by bombs planted by white supremacists at the 16th St. Baptist Church, and over 20 more were injured. The horrific bombings sent shock waves through the nation. Despite this violent reaction to the movement for equality and justice, everyday people in Birmingham continued their efforts. And thousands of children, some of them as young as 7 or 8 years old, had kept the momentum of the struggle going in its most pivotal hour.

Women's Rights Activist, Civil Rights Activist, focused primarily on improving the circumstances of and opportunities for African-American women. In 1963, Height was one of the organizers of the famed March on Washington. She stood close to Martin Luther King Jr. when he delivered "I Have a Dream."

The Opening of the Third Eye

This painting of the head of Minerva shows, in part, the activities of the pineal gland and the pituitary body at the time of the phenomenon commonly termed “the opening of the Third Eye.” The Kundalini fire is seen rising upward through the spinal canal into the pons of the medulla oblongata. The golden light radiating from the base of the brain, at the back, gradually increases in size and intensity until it forms the nimbus, or halo, of the saint. The pituitary body is here shown surrounded by an elliptic rose aura. The pineal gland—the Third Eye of the Mysteries__ is here depicted as blue in color and surrounded by a radiating blue aura. In reality, however, this aura includes within itself all the colors of the spectrum, but blue decidedly predominates. The tiny vibrating finger on the pineal gland points directly toward the pituitary body. This finger, vibrating at a very high rate of speed, is the actual cause of true spiritual illumination.

Ninety-five years ago, the 19th Amendment was certified to guarantee the right to vote for women. Today, we celebrate Women's Equality Day in honor of that milestone.
But today is also a day to reflect on how far we still have to go -- in the spirit of those women who protested and organized for a fundamental right nearly a century ago, we must do more to ensure equality for all women.
That means equal pay for equal work, and it means freedom in reproductive health choices. It also means that working women (and men) should have a right to paid sick days and better family leave, because nobody should have to choose between keeping their job and caring for a sick child or parent.
When I was a child, my grandmother became one of the first female bank vice presidents in Hawaii. She was a pioneer....
And today we're seeing more and more firsts. Women are Army Rangers. They're NFL coaches, and referees. And the 114th Congress includes more than 100 women for the very first time.
